Reading CATIA FilesIn SolidWorks, go to the File Open menu and select one of three CATIA extensions "*.model" (CATIA model), "*.dlv", and "*.exp" (CATIA Export files), then select the appropriate CATIA file. The SolidWorks parts created during conversion are automatically saved on the directory containing the CATIA file. Options and SettingsCATIAV5ToSolidWorks options are available in the folder SldCATIA of the SolidWorks dialog Tools/Options/Third Party. CATIA Entities Currently ConvertedCATIAV5ToSolidWorks is designed to translate all the 3D CATIA models that produce SolidWorks assemblies, solids and surfaces. Other entities like wireframes or drawings are ignored (these conversions are under development). Please let us know at info@radialsoft.com if you are interested in this functionality. The table below lists the CATIA entities converted to SolidWorks top-level entities.
All entities needed for the conversion of a solid are included. For example, a circle which is used to define the geometry of an edge in the CATIA part will be converted to a SolidWorks' edge, but an isolated circle will not be converted.
