Corrupted Files

The utility htail.exe lets you test the accuracy of your files. This utility is located in controlcatia.zip and is joined to CATIA2SolidWorks. In a DOS window, run htail ‘filename’. The four lines appearing on the screen must be the same as resultat.txt:

Otherwise the file is corrupted. Common reasons for corruption include failure during an ftp transfer or an ftp transfer in ASCII mode rather than binary mode.

Empty Result

You may have a CATIA file containing only 2D drawings or wireframe entities. These entities are not yet converted. The log files will enable you to view the entity types.

Another possibility is that the defined entities are not visible in the CATIA file. Check the "Import Hidden Entities" box in the Tools/Options/Third Party/SldCATIA Dialog and reload the file.

Difficulty Editing Imported Solids

The interface writes sewed Brep solids (if possible) into SolidWorks.  FeatureWorks can be used to modify the part and edit the features.

File Extension

If your CATIA file extension is not "*.model", "*.dlv" or "*.exp", you must manually rename the file with one of these extensions.
